Jonathan Bäckström Quartet is a young and rising talent that have already left their mark on the Finnish jazz and creative music scene. The quartet led by bassist/composer Jonathan Bäckström consists of finnish and swedish musicians set on a mission to navigate and discover the music that is being created in the moment. The quartets expression consists of minimalistic landscapes and explosive, multi layered free improvisation and is the result of each musician bringing their individual voices to create a strong, collective musical statement. Next to Bäckström plays altosaxophonist Marcus Wärnheim, tenorsaxophonist Adele Sauros and drummer Benjamin Nylund. The quartet will release their debut album ”JBQ” in the fall of 2023.
