Fri 03Nov

Lapua-Uusi-Guinea offers its audiences a festivity full of beauty, energy, longing and pure joy of dancing.
In Oktober 2023, the contemporary folk sextet Lapua-Uusi-Guinea will release its sophomore album "Taklax/Remix", exploring the strange but enchanting melodic language of the late Ostrobothnian master fiddler Johan Erik Taklax. The arrangemants are at the same time firmly rooted in Finnish and Scandinavian traditions, but spiced up with pop and rock flavours as well as discrete influences from e.g.jazz, Baroque, West African & British isles´musics. With the arrangements of traditional melodies as well as own tunes written by the pianist and bandleader Santeri Kaipiainen, Lapua-Uusi-Guinea is prepared to offer its audiences a festivity full of beauty, longing and pure joy of dancing.
The 2021 debut "Virittää" peaked at 14 in Roots Report´s world music list, its first print was sold out, and the tracks received radio airplay around Europe as well as in the United States.
