UXILA EXILE ignites its campfire at the crossroads of European contemporary jazz, experimental rhythm music and jazz traditions. In this musical exile vibraphonist/composer Ilkka Uksila is accompanied by the trumpet virtuoso Tomi Nikku, the convincing bassist Joonas Tuuri and the swinging drummer Ville Luukkonen.
The band's music is inspired by stories borrowed from films and literature as well as the composer’s observations of the world. Ilkka’s compositions based on strong imagery are ethereal but at the same time fully intact. His songs aim to be gentle interpretations of what the captured moments of the stories could fundamentally sound like.
